Summer Break by the Water

Image
Home and Garden is an often neglected genre of design in the blogging world.  By no means am I saying that there are no folks who absolutely adore the task of dressing up the space they live in or even setting up a scene for a photo.  Me?  I love the ease of tossing out a fully decorated building whether its to blog it, live in it or both.  Why?  Because as a builder / store owner I very much appreciate the time and effort other home and garden creators put into their designs.  The Mesh Beach Hut from *RnB* Design is a prime example of simple spaces fully furnished with all the must haves for a day on the beach, lake, creek .... um next to a pond even.  What?  I don't have a beach so I use what I got.   It's texturing is cool blue walls and darker roof with salt water & weather worn posts and trim.  It comes complete with banner flags, beach ball, surf board, life bouy, a few chairs (decor only - not animated) and some sea shells too.  In spite of it being a "Be

Trace ~ The Dreamer's Paradise

Image
A 'splorin' we will go, a 'splorin' we will go!  The Trace is the location of choice to snap the shutter on the ole cam a few times.  It's another of those places from the handy dandy SL Destination Guide, a must read for those who find themselves among the "bored in sl" state of mind.  The Celestial Realm is the sim that holds The Trace.  It is a full on outdoor experience that is unbelievably relaxing and beautifully designed.  Lots of opportunity to add to your photo album, especially at the waterfall where there are literally tons of animations for one person or a couple.  Gotta love when the clothes you choose for the day fit seamlessly into one of the places you just happen to tp into. Discord Designs creates some of the most fun, funky and definitely unique braids that I have seen in a while.  This is actually the first style of braids that I have ever purchased.  I love it!  Found the store some years ago but since the styles weren't what

Exploring SL

Image
Tonight a did a bit of exploring!  Absolutely need to do it a whole lot more.  It's relaxing, mindless and you find gorgeous places to take blog pictures. Hazardous is the setting for this particular photo.  It is a venue whose rustic charm is filled with surprises like a well that you can jump down if you're feeling adventurous.  There is also this fabulous waterway that flows through the center of the parcel where the light hits the water just right to create scenery that is breathtaking.  Naturally, I couldn't resist the urge to do a little snapping of the camera.  I got dress two days ago with the full intention of blogging a few awesome events that are filled with even more awesome designers.  Sadly, generally I get busy building for my inworld store and before you know it, the events are past.  Well that didn't happen this time.  One of my most favorite hair designers, Nita Bracken of Tameless is taking part in this years Hair Fair.  She has created 5 outs

Sweetness In The Garden

Image
Admittedly I had tons of fun setting up some of the garden items from this round of The Challenge.  {:MV:} has created this great pergola that serves as the shelter for a delightful table setting with dessert from !! Follow Us !!.  In the center of the pergola was a flowing fountain that I chose to remove. Yes, the set is modify to allow for such things as adding and removing elements if you so choose.  For me it seemed the ideal spot to have a sweet treat on a nice sl evening. The Arcadia Pergola is partial mesh thus a mesh capable viewer is necessary.  Are there viewers still out there that aren't capable of mesh viewing?  LOL.  The detailing in the wood textures and greenery is very nice, a must see in person to appreciate.  Though I did remove the flowing fountain most will definitely appreciate it as is. From !! Follow Us !! there is a whole set as well.  The slat wood table & chairs is not at all the complete package.  "My Little Garden Hut" is just what it

Home & Garden Goodness

The Challenge is on!  For one week every month awesome home and garden builders come up with a very cool design based upon a specified theme.  For June it was Garden, one of my favorite areas of content creation.  Though I didn't get the opportunity to participate this round, I'm very happy to be able to blog a few of the great items up for grabs for the next few days. JoHaDez, Poetic Funiture is offering up an awesome garden bench that is fully loaded.  It features texture change elements (wood, cushion & plant), high quality animations for single and couples, working light and dispenses wearable props with coordinating animations.  It's modern colors fit well with the home interior just as well as it does the exterior.  The Ladybug Garden Lights are cute as all get out.  They are available in three sizes to fit any size space inside or out. I personally thought it fitting to be on the ground but it is I believe meant for outdoors in the garden. If you prefer the han

Seeing The Forest For The Trees - HIV Awareness Exhibit

Image
The festivities of SL10B have come to an end for this year.  Though it didn't make the blog before now, an exhibit was presented on HIV Awareness.  A forest was created where each tree was adorned with a red awareness ribbon. As visitors approached from each side, north - south - east - west, they could enter the forest where real stories awaited them.  Some very real people were more than gracious to share their story of life with HIV or AIDS.  Photographs of these folks were posted beneath the appropriate ribbon where their story was placed.  Stories, bracelets, website urls, lists of support groups, and factual posts could be found inside each ribbon along the path.  Some ribbons were free to copy when right clicked upon giving the receiver opportunity to wear the ribbon thus showing their own support in educating the general public of the very real disease. Every photograph used was done so with the approval of that person.  One
